Should be #1. Not only Ozzy but also the Heaven and Hell days with Dio and even the Martin era wasn’t bad. Nobody has this longevity and still making great music. What other band here put out an album as recently as Devil You Know that is near that quality?

When you consider that this song is made up of a simple riff repeated many times over, a pretty non-existent chorus and a drum solo which lasts for half the song, it really is spectacularly brilliant.
What makes them great? Their shows and their longevity. While other older bands understandably slow down over the years, this group keeps pumping out anthem like music. Catchy rock music that could have been hits in the Rock n Roll heyday of the 80’s and 90’s. With that said, in the 21st Century alone they’ve won a Grammy and the Black Ice Tour was the 4th largest tour in HISTORY. Black Ice sold more albums world wide besides Cold Play. In 2007 AC/DC sold 3 million albums yet hadn’t produced new songs in 8 YEARS at that point. If you don’t think these aging rockers are still relavent then please check out the Live @ Rivee Plate. Their stage presence is as good as ever. Johnson is in terrific shape and they play to the frenzied crowd like never before. And, This is the AC/DC that could be retired and people would understand. Now: they have Rock Or Bust. Tickets sold so fast for European tour that it broke Guinness world records for most sales in least time. 1.75 million tickets in less …more
Queen is no question the best band ever. They have the greatest singer ever, Freddie Mercury, also a amazing piano player. For example, Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Seven Seas of Rhye, and The March of the Black Queen. One of the best guitarists ever. For example, Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, The Prophet Song, Hammer To Fall. One of the best bassists. For example, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen. Queen is my favorite band ever! I am in a queen cover band! – CalebMusic
Chuck Berry – Another one of the pioneers of rock and roll was the exciting Chuck Berry, who got started in his career in 1953. He got his big break in 1955 with “Maybellene” and “Ida Red”, but his biggest hits came in 1956 with “Roll Over Beethoven” and then later with a series of top 10 hits including the iconic “Johnny B. Goode.”

Buddy Holly – There are some people who claim that Buddy Holly created rock and roll. The singer started performing in 1949, but he really hit it big in 1957 with “That’ll Be the Day”, which hit number one in the U.S. charts. Holly died two years later in a tragic plane crash, which also killed Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper.
Performed by the Rolling Stones and written and sang by Mick Jagger, who narrates the song as if he were the devil himself, declaring that he’d wreaked havoc on humanity over the centuries. Interestingly, Jagger’s inspiration for the song came from the books of Baudelaire and Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel The Master and Margarita. Jagger’s intention was that it would be a kind of Bob Dylan song. But it was guitarist Keith Richards’ idea to increase the tempo of the song, add percussion, and give it a samba-like feel. The result – a ballistic rock classic!
27 Metallica Metallica is an American Thrash Metal band formed in 1981 . They’re not all ’60s-era legacy bands either. As rock ‘n’ roll moved into the next decades, it diversified into a number of notable offshoots – from singer-songwriters and punk to hard rock and pop-metal – and this list ties together all of those various threads. It makes for quite a journey. Find out how they stack up, as we count down the Top 100 classic rock artists.
The sound of a band who have nothing left to prove. Apparently written in minutes on a tour bus, this remains one of the all time great driving songs. It is also pretty notable for containing not only an enormous keyboard solo but also an outrageous guitar solo from Ritchie Blackmore.
Led Zeppelin – Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham and John Paul Jones were the biggest rock band in the U.S. at one time, and were really the biggest classic rock band on 80s radio. They started their career in 1968, and in a moment of shock to their fans, chose to break up after Bonham died.

Lead vocalist Jon Bon Jovi admired the heroes of the Old West, even the anti-heroes or outlaws, which he likened to rockers who traveled about the country, living the wild life in all the towns and cities where they performed. So he and Richie Sambora wrote the song “Wanted Dead or Alive,” which became Bon Jovi’s anthem. Released on the album, Slippery When Wet, “Wanted Dead or Alive” along with “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Never Say Goodbye” all soared to the Top Ten of Billboard’s Hot 100, the first hard rock album to have three top singles. Not bad for Bon Jovi, a so-called Hair Metal band!
I get it they are not everyone’s cup of tea and people get tired of hearing their names mentioned. But when people mention old music and everyone thinks of The Beatles, doesn’t that say something? Let’s give John, Paul, George and Ringo some credit.

In addition to being a founding member of Toto, Jeff Porcaro was one of if not the most-recorded drummers ever. That’s because he added magic to whatever he played on by many major pop and rock acts, says fellow drummer Dony Wynn, who Porcaro mentored in the early years of his career.
